After all the cold we had in Montana we were happy to at least find the sun. After pulling out of Hurricane, Utah I noticed that our new alternator wasn't working... Fortunately we found a shop that could get right on it. From Hurricane we took a secondary state road that took us to Jacobs Lake. Reaching the "lake" (not much more than a watering hole for cattle) we stopped for lunch at this little tourist trap at the top of this ridge (7856 ft.) This route also took us to the American Indian "Rock Dwellings", Vermillion Cliffs, and Lee's Ferry Landing. From there we headed for Flagstaff and then to finish our day parked just outside of Camp Verde.
While Lou is out on the gambling floor and trying to win our first million or just pay for our dinner, I thought I would have dessert...anyone want to join me???
We "hope" we have left the snow behind. Our travels yesterday took us from Idaho Falls to our stop last night, Hurricane, Utah. Uneventful, little plowing snow, some rain and wind, but some beautiful countryside.
We are back on the road... We recieved the truck about 3 yesterday afternoon with snow falling and blowing. We decided the road to Idaho Falls should be good so we pulled out. SNOW, SLEET, RAIN, and Heavy WIND right in our face...Were the heck is that SUN we've been expecting??? Idaho Falls this morning is right at 30 degrees, we are just finishing breakfast and READY !!!
Unfortunately we didn't make it very far before we found ourselves suffering with the same tranny problem we suffered with in Alaska...We found a mechanic who could get to us on Monday and out by Wednesday but unfortunately the snow and COLD has caught up with us...what the heck???
We are all packed up and ready to pull out of our storage area in the morning...Mexico, Belize, and beyond...this is going to be one hell of a journey.
In celebrating Lou's birthday, Amy had a birthday cake (Gluten Free) made in the image of Bumble Bee the van we had in Europe...what a great surprise.
There are soooo many amazing-ly picture BEAUTIFUL sights in this part of Alberta, Canada... We have just left Lake Louise and headed for Calgary with stops along the way... Lake Moraine, The tourist town of Banff (we did see and enjoy "The Cave" mineral springs while there AND the mountain drive to see the city far below) but it was just toooo touristy and out of hand to stay. Then a drive around the Johnson Loop before setting the GPS for Ken and Maureen's for a couple of days exploring Calgary and visiting with good friends.
We just finished a "Family Appreciation Love In" for Louise's side of the family... We had "A Ball" !!! Thanks to all for the great family, food, and political talk... (along with some stiff drinks).
